MOLAP, ROLAP, Hybrid ...Where does Hyperion Essbase fit in?

One knows the old ways of defining OLAP i.e FASMI - Fast Analysis of Shared Multidimensional Information.

Let me introduce essbase in the context of FASMI
Essbase is Fast,as it gives results i.e information on the reporting platform quickly .Ideally, not more than few seconds .

Essbase is used for analysis purpose , Essbase is very much capable to embeding the business logic .It does encourage programming and is very flexible in changing the calculations i.e business logic .Hence, freedom to change logic as per the requirement of Business.thats why you see financial institues or any industry ,where they have huge data availability, they buy essbase and use it to provide analyses for the Business decisions .

Essbase does encourage multiple users( shared Users) to access at a time in a very secured mode.Essbase does update the changes and serve the users in a timely fashion.

Essbase is multidimensional in nature , if you see any application/ database , it has numerous dimensions ( sbjective to the requirement of the Business), mutiple hierarchies .Mutlidimensionality is most important part of definition.i shall talk on Multidimensionality again as an individual topic.

Information, what do we do after making all the essbase smart cubes , we do communicate through our reporting tool/platform to extract information .This defines information.

Note: Dont get confused with MOLAP and OLAP, most of them use it interchangingly.
Thus, Essbase is MOLAP or an OLAP

You really explain things well. I really liked your posts. I have read all of them but I see that you haven't been posting anything from a long time. Do you have any other blog or you completely stopped posting things.

I would request you to resume this practise as it really helps individuals like me who are getting a lot of good information from your post.

Thanks for all the post so far.
